Music for the Gospel-Centred Life

In the words of Martin Luther

Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul; it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us.

Who also said this

Next to the Word of God, the noble art of music is the greatest treasure in the world.

And this

I have no pleasure in any man who despises music. It is no invention of ours: it is a gift of God. I place it next to theology. Satan hates music: he knows how it drives the evil spirit out of us.

What about this one?

My heart, which is so full to overflowing, has often been solaced and refreshed by music when sick and weary.

Was Martin Luther correct in these assertions?  He certainly could not be accused of lacking intent with these statements!

Such words, from such a figure should, at the very least, cause those to pause-to-encourage all believers from all traditions to see the redemptive potential in the musical form!

Therefore, in light of the previous post on the Gospel and its relationship to all of life, here are a number of tracks from an album that has been around since May 2004, titled, Songs for the Cross-Centered Life, by Sovereign Grace Music, with details HERE, which practices in singing what we preach!
