The “Probably” Atheists Bus Drive is Definitely On!

NEXT STOP PURGATORY: The controversial advertisement has upset religious groups in Britain. As one trying-to-be-wise-by-God’s-grace-blogger said, If the British campaign is anything to go by, they should not have too many problems in raising the required funds.

Those strangely familiar words have become non-predictively-prophetically true some 24 hours after media attention put this campaign on display.

Seeing that the world is their purposelessly formed oyster, the spokesman for this campaign ‘Simon ‘not to be confused with another Fisher’ of men,” affirmed the following…

New Zealand Atheist Bus Campaign spokesman Simon Fisher said the response to the campaign had been overwhelming and mostly positive.

…The donations had been “rolling in fast” and the group had now doubled and capped the target to $20,000, he said. It would pay for advertisements on 12 buses in Auckland, eight in Wellington and four in Christchurch, each staying on the buses for four weeks.

Mr Fisher said the reaction had been far beyond his expectations and the new adverts could be on buses as early as January.

“Lots of people are asking `how can we help’ and saying `finally we have something like this in New Zealand’.”

The “don’t get” Stuff-ed article also reports on some of the reaction of the “religious nut jobs,” which if this sampling is normative, has been positive and has viewed this as an opportunity with which to redeem!

Finally we have something like this in New Zealand… If “people” really have been saying that, one wonders what country they have been living in, as New Zealand has been a post-Christian land for some time, and there has been freedom of speech… cat got their tongue?  Maybe they feel like they have a voice now!  Although, I guess 2 individuals count as people!

Before that moment moves me to tears, let me remind you again that CN:NZ has made its position clear in the previous posting.

But to reaffirm… and sing with me…

God is Not Dead, NO, He is Alive, God is Not Dead, NO, He is Alive, I feel Him in my hands…

You didn’t sing that as a child?  Philistine!  Sorry, the charisma of the moment got to me!

What I was trying to make clear is that this move is an opportunity for the faithful to speak the truth in love, and not a sign that your own personal rapture is on the horizon… no need to down the arsenic… yet!

If you are confused and want to seek out some “religios”… or want to find some resources that may help you in speaking to the “Probably Pursuit”…  Try these… MandM, Beretta Blog, Thinking Matters, Manawatu Christian Apologetics, and Apologetics315

Or failing that, you could pay-for-some-to-put-some advertising on some Buses in New Zealand… If so, here is a possible slogan or two… THERE ARE “PROBABLY” NO ATHEISTS… or… THERE IS DEFINITELY A CREATOR-GOD!

Just an idea!

Or, you could pay me to paint it on my car, and I will drive around NZ this summer… Might not have the same impact though!  I could do with an extra $20,000… Where’s your Christian spirit?
