Something to do for your technological new year — add a signature to your emails (like your favourite Bible verse or a great quote). Now, every email you send has something additional for others to read.
Here’s how…
In your email program, go to Tools –> Options and look for a Signatures option somewhere. All email programs are slightly different but most have a signatures option. If you cannot find it, use the email program’s Help.
Add you signature in the appropriate place and test it by sending an email to …
The Short Answer: Yes. Intelligent design theory predicts:
that we will find specified complexity in biology. One special easily detectable form of specified complexity is irreducible complexity. We can test design by trying to reverse engineer biological structures to determine if there is an “irreducible core.”
rapid appearance of complexity in the fossil record
re-usage of similar parts in different organisms
function for biological structures. Each of these predictions may be tested–and have been confirmed through testing!

Albert Mohler, President of the Southern Baptist Seminary in the USA, has seen the full movie (movie trailer here) and read the trilogy twice over the past decade. He has a number of resources available on these books, plus commentary and discussion regarding how Christians should react to the coming movie. Should we boycott it? Will we fall into the stereotype that Pullman wants us to fall into.
After Tolkien and C.S. Lewis, I just wonder if this style of movie is getting a bit blar. What do you think?

A reader has suggested we write to Benny Hinn Ministries and ask them to comment on the earlier video clip on this website (lots more on YouTube exposing the con-man btw).
Lacking the time to deal with these pseudo-Christian money-preaching charlatans, I have just sent them a link to this page and offered them the freedom to post a reply. I’m not a betting bloke, but what are the chances?
There is a sucker born every minute.
And a sucker born again every minute.
This blurb is from Intelligent Design by William Dembski (foreward by Michael Behe) (p.268-270)
Specified Complexity does indeed apply to biology. In fact it applies better to biology than it does to some of the toy examples considered in chapter 5.
Interesting. Then Dembski goes on to talk about splattering ink on a page, and the chances of making a short phrase from Hamlet using this technique. Why cannot design detection be applied to biology as it can to testing ink patterns? Dembski argues it can; in fact it is much simpler …

I have grumbled before about the lack of good music — imo of course — produced in the last 10 years. How many come close to the Beatles, Genesis, U2, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, REM, Metallica, Pink Floyd, Bon Jovi?
How many albums have I bought in the last 10 tears because I thought they were worth it? Um, just one and that was 56 Henry.
So tell me, who are the great bands, Christian or secular, from the last ten years? Links please.
Retiring principal of Renwick School in Marlborough, Ian Mackey, said in Wednesday’s Marlborough Express that parents are increasingly viewing schools as mere baby sitting services, with any education that takes place as a bonus.

Hide their Christmas tree and replace it with a “Darwin Tree of Life” (below), complete with the rodents
Buy them a giant spaghetti monster.
Make them really mad by buying them tickets to the coming movie: EXPELLED.
Remind them that, without Santa, life is ultimately meaningless.

This is from a PowerPoint presentation from here: http://idnet.com.au/files/pdf/IMPACT%20ID2.pdf. This is the monster that ID is up against — but what will these two fellas look like in 20 years I wonder?
Most of America’s populace think it improper to spank children, so I have tried other methods to control my kids when they have one of “those moments.”
One that I found effective is for me to just take the child for a car ride and talk.
They usually calm down and stop misbehaving after our car ride together.
I’ve included a photo below of one of my sessions with my son, in case you would like to use the technique.

There is an interesting selection here:

dealing with the Intelligent Design happenings during 2007. The first few follow…
As this year draws to a close, I’d like to present a few snapshots of what’s been happening around the world with the Darwin vs. Design debate, as well as what we have accomplished here at ARN:
Complexity of Molecular Machines – Science Daily reported on remarkable molecular “machines” in living cells, the ribosomes. These “factories” are giving scientists clues to the development of new antibiotics and revealing secrets about how cells use the genetic …

Over 400 prominent scientists from more than two dozen countries recently voiced significant objections to major aspects of the so-called “consensus” on man-made global warming. These scientists, many of whom are current and former participants in the UN IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), criticized the climate claims made by the UN IPCC and former Vice President Al Gore.

A Silicon Valley start-up called Nanosolar shipped its first solar panels — priced at $1 a watt. That’s the price at which solar energy gets cheaper than coal. Curious that this story is not on every front page.
Still, to commemorate the achievement, Nanosolar CEO Martin Roscheisen (pictured) is reserving the first three commercially-viable panels. One is staying on display at company HQ; one has been donated to San Jose’s Tech Museum of Innovation. And the other is on sale on e-bay.
